Suzhou's Stone Lake has a famous scene: under the Xingchun Bridge's nine arches, the Mid-Autumn moon passes through and a whole string of moons floats up on the water. 'Stringing' is moonlight queuing - one after another, none pushing ahead. A fine pavé chain at the wrist is that string of moonlight, arrived through the bridge.
